Brochure

Our brochure is able a turbine called the Kaplan turbine.

The Kaplan turbine is a propeller-type water turbine that has adjustable blades. It was developed in 1913 by the Austrian professor Viktor Kaplan. The Kaplan turbine was an evolution of the Francis turbine. Its invention allowed efficient power production in low head applications that was not possible with Francis turbines.Kaplan turbines are now widely used throughout the world in high-flow, low-head power production.

reSACKel shopping bag

Buying a reSACKel shopping bag means you are helping the environment in 3 ways:

1. Reducing your future need for disposable plastic bags

2. The fabric of your bag is 100% reused plastic sacking. In addition, we use new nylon thread to stitch the bags, so this guarantees that they remains strong. The tags and the labels are also made out of unbleached paper sourced from a paper mill using managed forests. In conclusion, for every reSACKel bag you buy, you save one old sack and all the resources it took to manufacture it in the first place. Why use new fabric bags when you can reSACKel?

3. The reSACKeling process is simple, clean and efficient - so not only are you saving the resources it took to make the sack, but you are doing it in a way that does not require heavy industrial recycling processes.

I feel it is good to used the bag as the resources used is enviromental friendly. It is also helpful as it is easy to produce and we could save on using plastic bag in the furture.

Learning Issue

We came out with one of the learning issue by asking a enviromental expert as he/she would be very clear on what is going on to the earth.He/She would also be able to tell on how we can conserve and save the earth.

G TOWER

GTower is a SGD$200+ million 30-storey office-retail-hotel development being built on 199, Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur. It is slated to be officially opened only in 2009. More interestingly, it is the first building in Malaysia to achieve the globally recognised BCA Green Mark GOLD award (Provisional) from our very own Building & Construction Authority. Now, the GOLD rating means that GTower is 20 per cent more energy-efficient than a normal building. Some of its green features are:
1. A pay-as-you-use billing system for the use of air-conditioning by its tenants
2. Special glass panels that lower the amount of heat transmitted from the external environment to the interior of the building
3. A rain water harvesting/recycling system
4. Green spaces "decorated" with paintings and potted plants
5. A ventilation system that channels more oxygen into different parts of the building when the level of carbon dioxide in the air rises

I fell that the pay-as-you-use billing system for the use of air-conditioning by its tenants is most impresive. This could encourged people to use less air-condition so as to save and conserve energy.
